The Upper Primary program, located on the Northcote Campus, caters for students between the ages of 10-13 years. The students within the Upper Primary Department are supported by two fulltime teachers and two teacher assistants. The program is implemented in line with the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) and incorporates the Australian Curriculum (AusVELS).
The program focuses on students individual learning needs, engagement in age appropriate activities and aims to develop and extend students’ independent living and social skills within the school setting. Students participate in Discipline-Based Learning sessions such as English, Mathematics and Studies of Society and the Environment, as well as attending regular Art, Music and Physical Education sessions with specialist staff.
There are further opportunities for students to participate in extra-curricular activities through: cooking, camp, CoCare education, excursions, swimming, gardening, bike education, travel training and the Adapted Multi-Sports Program at Victoria University.
